KACCH

From their website:

Professional staff are employed by KACCH to provide psychosocial support for children and their families in hospital. Play opportunities are provided in attractively decorated paediatric wards and other areas of the hospital where children are treated. Through specialised play techniques, children in hospital are helped to understand their medical conditions and treatment procedures, encouraged to express their feelings, cope with painful procedures and continue their normal development. Research has shown that when children are given this kind of support in hospital, their stress levels are reduced, they respond better to treatments and they have fewer complications.

I have seen it, I have seen their angelic touches in our hospitals here in Kuwait. How they decorated the pediatric wards with cute hand made crafts and when they visit the children to play with them and read to them to distract them from all the screaming going on in the ward and the wires and the medications they’re receiving. Their role is very important, just as important as the nurses role, well, at least in government hospitals we only have a few nurses that are truly angelic to children and not scaring them off. Especially with all that pressure going on there and all that chaos in some or let’s say (most) of the governmental hospitals.

I received this yesterday:
